Before Proceeding to Airplay on LG TV, you should know whether your LG Smart TV is compatible with the Airplay Feature. Airplay 2 feature is available on 2018 LG TVs and later ones. If your LG TV uses WebOS 4.0 and Later Versions, it is compatible with the Airplay 2 Feature.

Follow the Steps Below to See Which version of WebOS your LG TV is Operating on.

  1. Press the Home Button on your LG TV Remote.
  2. On the Home Menus, Go To Settings.
  3. Select All Settings and Go to “General.
  4. Select “About This TV

In the “About this TV” Section, you will get info about the WebOS of your LG. If your LG TV operates on WebOS 4.0 or higher, you can use the Airplay Feature.

STEPS To Enable Airplay on LG Smart TV

After Knowing that your LG TV support Airplay 2 Feature, it is time to enable Airplay on LG SMART TV so that you can easily enjoy your favourite content on a Big LG TV Screen. It will allow you to mirror your iPhone screen to LG. Follow the steps below to Enable Airplay on LG Smart TV.

  • Turn On your TV and Ensure it is connected to the stable WiFi network.
  • Press the Home Button on the TV Remote to Go to the Home Menu.
  • Navigate to “ThinQ Home Dashboard” and Select “Airplay.
  • Now Go to “Airplay and HomeKit” Settings on the Airplay Screen.
  • On the AirPlay and HomeKit Settings Screen, Turn on the Airplay.

Now Airplay is enabled on your LG TV. You can now do screen mirroring from iOS devices like iPhone, iPadand MacBook to your LG TV Screen.


Airplay From iPhone/iPad to LG Smart TV

Some apps are incompatible with LG TV or not present on the LG Content Store, like MLB and NFL Apps. But you want to watch that app, Favorite Shows, or Movies on your LG TV screen.

You can easily do this using Airplay on LG smart TV. Follow the Steps Below to airplay iPhone to LG TV.

  • Ensure your iPhone and LG TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi connection.
  • Play your Desired Content on your iPhone.
  • Tap on the Screen Cast or Screen Mirroring Icon on the Top.
  • It will prompt you to choose different options. Select the “Airplay” option.
  • Now, you will see the list of Available Devices on your iPhone screen.
  • Select your LG TV from the given list.
  • It will start Pairing. May your TV Screen Propmt with Pair Code.
  • Enter the code on your iPhone, displayed on the LG Screen.
  • Select OK or Confirm to Complete the Process.

Now you have Successfully Airplayed your iPhone to your LG TV. You can watch your favorite Shows, Movies or Sports on a big screen. 

For All other iOS devices, the overall procedure is the same. You can follow these steps on a Macbook or iPad to Airplay from these devices.

You can also access the Screen Mirroring option in the Control Center of your iPhone or iPad.

How to unpair previous AirPlay devices?

To unpair previous AirPlay devices on an LG NanoCell TV:

  1. Press the Home button on your TV’s remote.
  2. Select Home Dashboard > AirPlay.
  3. Go to AirPlay and HomeKit Settings.
  4. Choose Require Code > Reset Paired Devices.

This will unpair all previously connected AirPlay devices. You can then follow the steps to connect your new AirPlay device on LG.

When you airplay on LG smart TV, you have several options to control the display and audio:

  1. Adjust Screen Position – Change the position of your device screen on the TV by dragging it to the desired location.
  2. Enable Device Audio – To hear the sound from your device on your TV, enable the device audio option. This will route the audio from your device to the TV speakers.
  3. Full-Screen Mode – To view your device screen in full-screen mode, select the full-screen option. This will expand the device screen to fill the entire TV display.
  4. Exit Screen Sharing – To stop mirroring your device screen, simply select the exit screen-sharing option. This will disconnect your device from the TV and return the TV to its normal viewing mode

On iOS devices, you can open the Control Center and tap Screen Mirroring. Then, tap Stop Screen Mirroring to disconnect your device from your TV.

On Windows 10 devices, you can open the Action Center and click Connect. Then, click Disconnect to disconnect your device from your TV.

On Windows 11 devices, you can open the Settings app and click System. Then, click Projecting to this PC and click Disconnect.

Troubleshooting Airplay on LG TV

Sometimes AirPlay may not work properly. If you are having trouble with AirPlay on your LG TV, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

1. LG smart TV not showing up in AirPlay

There are a few possible reasons why your LG smart TV may not be showing up in AirPlay anymore:

  1. Your TV and AirPlay device are not on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. AirPlay is not enabled on your TV.
  3. There is a problem with your TV’s network settings.
  4. Your TV’s firmware is not up to date.
  5. There is a problem with the AirPlay feature on your AirPlay device.

To Fix:

  • Check your Wi-Fi network and TV settings.
  • Restart your TV and AirPlay device.
  • Reset your TV’s network settings.
  • Update your TV’s firmware.
  • Try a different AirPlay device.

2. AirPlay not working on LG NanoCell TV

If airplay is not working on LG tv, try connecting it with other devices. If you are able to AirPlay to other devices without any issues, this would point to an issue with the LG NanoCell TV. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Make sure same wifi connection for your TV and AirPlay device
  2. Restart your TV and AirPlay device.
  3. Reset your TV’s network settings ( Settings > Network > Reset network settings)
  4. Update your TV’s firmware (Settings > General > About this TV > Check for updates)
  5. Unpair all previously connected AirPlay devices.
  6. Try setting up HomeKit on your LG TV (Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit and scanning the QR code with your AirPlay device)

3. iPad sees LG TV, but AirPlay won’t connect

There are a number of reasons why AirPlay may not be working between your iPad and LG TV, even if they are on the same Wi-Fi network.

  1. Make sure that your TV and iPad are on the same IP subnet.
  2. Make sure that your TV and iPad are not on separate VLANs.
  3. Make sure that your TV and iPad are not on guest networks.
  4. Make sure that your router is not blocking broadcast and network discovery traffic. 
  5. Make sure that your router’s Wi-Fi privacy settings are not isolating Wi-Fi clients from each other.
